Official BubbleBall Rules and Regulations:

Game/Player information and Tournament Rules:

Bubble Soccer is a team sport in which the objective is to score more goals than your opponent. Teams will play single game elimination style. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of one game, with a maximum of 4 games to reach the final playoff in a 12 team tournament and 3 games in an 8 team tournament.

Game Length

•  Games are 12 minutes in length with no stops for halftime.
•  Games start and end according to our online tournament schedule. Schedule will be posted and Captains will be notified of start times once registration has closed.
•  All games must run on time. If a team does not have the required amount of players to play (6) at the game start time, there will be an automatic forfeiture of that game unless both Captains agree on one team playing short of players/substitutes. If a game starts late due to players arriving late, it must still finish at the finish time. All games will run according to the tournament schedule, no exceptions.

Equipment

•  All equipment (soccer ball, nets and bubbles) will be provided on-site.
•  Each player is responsible for bringing their own towel to wipe down the bubble.
•  It is highly recommended all players wear knee pads, shin guards and gloves (helmets may also be worn if desired).

Players on Court

•  Teams are comprised of 5 players on the court (no goalkeeper). Minimum age of Team Tournament players is 14
•  Captains may agree to waive the rules regarding minimum players if one team is short of players
•  Games are played on a basketball sized court.
•  To start the game, staff will decide who is awarded the kick off by a heart toss.
•  The game begins with the ball being passed back to a teammate before crossing center line.

General Game Rules

•  Bubble soccer is played within basketball court lines; however, a player may go outside the lines to kick a ball back in, but cannot score or dribble outside the lines.
•  There is no out-of-bounds, players may play the ball off the wall, but a goal off the wall DOES NOT COUNT.
•  The on-site Event Coordinator will call substitutions every 3 minutes these substitutions should start by taking your bubble off (if subbing) and giving it a quick wipe down.
•  Free kicks are indirect and may be scored off of.
•  The whole of the ball must CROSS the whole of the line to be deemed a valid goal.
•  No offside calls will be made.

Goal Crease & Goalkeeper

•  There are no goalkeepers in bubble soccer.
•  All players must remain outside the goal crease (2 meter radius around net) on defense and offense.

Bubble Contact, Violations & Making Calls

•  All bubble bumps between players must be within court lines (avoid bumping into walls, objects, bystanders, staff, and nets)
•  Bumping an opponent from behind is illegal (only head-on or sideways bumping is allowed).
•  When a foul is called, play must stop as there is no ‘advantage’ in bubble soccer.
•  If a disagreement cannot quickly be resolved, the two team captains should meet at the middle of the court (without any other players) and discuss a resolution.

Bubble Hygiene & Safety

•  Please do not wear belts, jewellery, glasses, or sharp objects.
•  Players should avoid wearing cut-off t-shirts and tank tops to keep bubbles clean.
•  Before and after use, the inside of your bubble must be thoroughly wiped down, this includes during substitutions.
•  Bubble safety harnesses must be adjusted accordingly before a player can enter the game (see Event Coordinator for help).

Playoffs

In the final playoff, a game that is tied at the end of regulation time will be decided by a golden goal overtime period (next goal wins the game).

BUBBLEBALL SOCCER

Are you ready for Bubble Soccer? This new popular sport is very similar to classic soccer. The rules hardly differ from the ones of soccer; the gameplay however, may surprise you! In Bubble Soccer, the objective is still to score as many goals as possible, except that the players from each team compete in a large transparent inflatable bubble (which protects them from head to knees). The feet are then free to defy opponents and grab the ball.

The bubbles will make you experience a game out of the ordinary and a totally experience! Laughter and fun are guaranteed! If you thought the Bubble Ball Soccer is reserved only for trained athletes or experienced soccer players, think again! It is a sport for everyone and it requires no special skill.

In Bubble Ball Soccer, you can safely move your opponents a few feet, which can lead to lots of laughs. Teams of 5 play against each other, the game is played for 2 halves of 6 minutes each, with a 3 minute break in between. (Trust us you will need it!).

•  Games start and end according to our online schedule. Players will choose one of the open time slots available and will be responsible for arriving at least 20 minutes prior to their start time.
•  All games must run on time. If a team does not have the required amount of players to play (5) at the game start time, and if both teams are in agreement, staff will discuss and decide whether to evenly distribute players. If a game starts late due to players arriving late, it must still finish at the finish time. Without exception, all family fun games will run according to the online schedule.
