I am so excited to run in the 2017 Becel Heart&Stroke Ride for Heart on Sunday, June 4th. Last year, with your help, I was able to raise $1000 and participate as a VIP (Very Important Philanthropist). This year, I want to raise $1000 or more to become a VIP again and maximize my impact on the Heart & Stroke mission to create more survivors.
I am running and fundraising in memory of my Granddad, Jack Sheffield. My granddad and I were very close and I miss him every single day. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada is important to me because I know the impact that heart disease can have, which is why fundraising to support life-saving research is vital. I want to make a difference, but I need your help.
For years we’ve seen that heart disease can be passed down through generations, but now we know that family history can double your risk of heart disease and stroke. This is alarming because everyone I know, and everyone you know, can identify a family member or friend with a family history of cardiovascular disease. I don’t want to lose these loved ones before their time. I don’t believe our genes should determine our fate.
I hope you’ll help me fund life-saving research by supporting my run with a generous donation. Thank you!
Lea (Leonida) Sheffield
