Last July, I was returning home from a work trip in Europe when I heard that Dee King, our beloved neighbour, had suffered a massive stroke. The news was devasting, and Dee's ultimate passing a few weeks later hit our tight knit community pretty hard.
Dee was the social convenor for the whole neighbourhood. Everyone was always welcomed with a smile and a cold beverage at her house, and we had many memorable and fun evenings at the home of the Kings. Her death has left a hole in the community to be sure.
That's why several neighbours have joined to form a team in her memory: "Dee's Dynamos".
The rest of this message is brought to you by Becel Ride for Heart:
I don’t believe our genes should be our destiny, and that’s why I am fundraising for the 2017 Ride for Heart on June 4th. Your donation will push forward life-saving research like this and more and fund incredible breakthroughs to create more survivors of heart disease and stroke!
It was always apparent that family history played a role in our risk factors for heart disease and stroke. But despite significant advances, we only know 20-30% of the genes involved.
With the right funding, doctors predict they could unlock the genetic puzzle behind cardiovascular disease within as little as 5 years.
Please help me with my fundraising goal and make a donation today.
