For many years I have canvassed in my neighborhood on behalf of Heart & Stroke Foundation because it seemed an important organization to volunteer my time for and because heart disease has affected some of my family members. However, this year the cause has become much more significant and personal to me and my family. So, in addition to door-to-door canvassing, I'm kicking it up a notch and canvassing on-line to my family, friends and colleagues as well.
As many of you know, in April I lost my dear mom to a heart attack. As sudden and unexpected as it was for us, there were subtle signs (shortness of breath and loss of appetite) for days leading up to her tragic event. These signs should not have been taken lightly, and this is why I'd like to reach out, not only to provide awareness to those I care about, but also to raise funds for continued research. Hopefully the ongoing research will lead to a breakthrough that will save lives and save families the devastation of losing a loved one to heart disease or stroke.
Please consider giving to Heart and Stroke to help ensure research continues. Please consider reading the valuable information provided at the Heart and Stroke site.
