It’s another year, and I’m writing you to ask you to donate on my behalf to the Heart and Stroke Ride for Heart! For the first time My brother is joining my father and me on this year’s ride - he had no idea the ride route is uphill, so this should be interesting. Maybe we can get the kids to join us next year, it’s only 25 km, a nine year old can swing that, right? I’ve been passed on this ride by kids on little pink bikes with streamers flowing from their handlebars (streamers are the BEST, I wish I could get away with streamers on my bike) so it’s possible. Maybe if I get myself some glittery streamers I’ll ride faster?
Shiny pink things aside, writing the “begging letter” might actually be the hardest part of a charity fundraising ride. I’m actually in my living room, on my bike, training while I write this! The view isn’t scenic, my breakfast dishes are taunting me, and I think both my bike and I will be glad to be outside again.
So if you can, please donate to my ride. Heart and Stroke is a huge, legitimate not-for-profit organization that strives to help all Canadians live healthier lives, so you get a tax receipt for your donation, as well as the warm, fuzzy feeling in your gut that you’ve done good.
