Heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death for Canadians men and women. Because of amazing research over the past 60 years, the death rate from these diseases has decreased by 75 per cent! But we all know someone living with the effects of heart disease and stroke today - so the work is not over yet!
That’s why Tracy and I (along with any of our children who will be in town then) have decided to take part in Ski For Heart 2017 again this year - making this year the 24th year we as a family have participated.
I believe continued research is the key to saving lives from heart disease and stroke, and creating a healthier future for all of us. Plus, it’s an investment in innovation that will help to lift the careers of new scientists in Canada, which is home to many leaders in heart and stroke research.
